BARONA CREEK GOLF CLUB RANKED ONE OF THE BEST CASINO GOLF COURSES IN THE NATION BY GOLF DIGEST MAGAZINE

(SAN DIEGO, CA) August 10, 2007 – Barona Creek Golf Club, home of the 2007 Nationwide Tour Championship on October 29 through November 4, 2007, was ranked the 4th best casino course by Golf Digest magazineon alist of the Top 40 Casino Courses in the country.  

In its inaugural casino ranking, the Golf Digest course rating panel – comprised of more than 800 low-handicap golfers – evaluated casino golf courses across the United States. To be eligible, a course had to be owned by, or share ownership with, a casino or casino company.

The top five courses on the list included:

1. Shadow Creek MGM Mirage, Las Vegas

2. The Wilderness at Fortune Bay, Tower, MN

3. Cascatta Harrah’s, Las Vegas

T4. Barona Creek Golf Club, Barona Valley Ranch Resort & Casino San Diego, CA

T4. Circling Raven Golf Club, Coeur d’Alene Casino, Worley, ID

The Golf Digest ranking is the latest prestigious accolade for the Barona Creek golf course. Earlier this year, Barona Creek was ranked the 3rd best resort course, behind Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill, and 19th best resort course in the United States by Golfweek Magazine .

Chairwoman Welch-Scalco added, “Our recent awards are generating incredible interest for our course in the golf community.  And, this November, fans of the game will have an opportunity to observe the merits of Barona Creek during the Nationwide Tour Championships. Our Tribe and golf staff are eagerly making preparations to showcase our property across the nation.”

Barona Creek Golf Club is a par 72 course that is now extended to 7,448 yards with more than 100 multi-fingered bunkers and a series of lakes and ponds that are connected to the areas naturally fed streams.  The golf course also has more than 170 mature native oak trees transplanted from other regions of the Barona Indian Reservation. Making use of the subtly undulating terrain, prominent rock outcroppings and gentle elevation changes preserve the lands’ unique characteristics. The combination of both natural and strategic elements of the design make Barona Creek Golf Club one of the most challenging and thought provoking golf courses in San Diego.
