Three lucky ducks take top prizes at Barona’s $1,000,000 Quacker Dash benefiting the San Diego Blood Bank
(SAN DIEGO, CA) April 21, 2005 — Three lucky ducks took top prizes for their owners today at Barona’s $1,000,000 Quacker Dash benefiting the San Diego Blood Bank. More than 9,000 yellow rubber racers were “set free” in a lake on Barona’s world-class championship golf course in a race to raise money for a new community bloodmobile.
The three fastest Quackers belonged to — 1) Robert Chottle, who won a year’s lease for a Saturn Ion 1, compliments of Saturn; 2) Joe Castro, who scored a trip for two to Disney World; 3) Melanie Figueroa, whose duck earned her a $1,000 Fashion Valley Mall shopping spree.
Barona’s $1,000,000 Quacker Dash grossed nearly $62,000 for the San Diego Blood Bank which will go toward the purchase of a new bloodmobile, capable of collecting nearly 7,500 pints of blood per year for area hospital patients.
