GOOD FOOD BRINGS A TASTE OF GOOD LUCK
Barona Valley Ranch Welcomes Lunar New Year with Opulent Fare
(SAN DIEGO) January 16, 2007 – Asian cuisine, celebrated for its creativity and unique flavors is a core aspect of the area’s culture. The most lavish meal is prepared in honor of the New Year, using some of the rarest and most expensive ingredients available. When fine food is associated with good luck, no expense is spared to ensure a prosperous beginning to the New Year. Barona Valley Ranch Resort & Casino will commemorate the Year of the Boar and time-honored Asian customs by offering a special menu of authentic cuisine during the resort’s two-week celebration of Lunar New Year. This unique menu will feature the rarest and most indulgent ingredients coveted throughout Asia, and will be served at both the HoWan Noodle Shop and Sage Café, the resort’s new casually elegant venue.
Barona’s Chef Wai Lau, trained in his native Hong Kong, has designed a Lunar New Year Menu featuring the most authentic elements for those wishing to invest in good fortune or for the adventurous eater eager to sample opulent Asian culture. The menu features a rare Sweet Bird Nest Soup, priced at $88. Celebrated for its distinctive flavor and texture, this delicacy features edible bird’s nests, one of the single most expensive ingredients used in the world. Rumored to have significant health benefits, this Asian specialty is traditionally eaten during the Lunar New Year to promote youthfulness for the upcoming year.
Other traditional Asian specialties include Crab Paste with Sautéed Romaine Lettuce priced at $18, Chicken with American Ginseng Soup priced at $23.88, Garlic Steam Chilean Sea Bass priced at $28.88 and Thai Basil Maine Lobster priced at $38.88. The Lunar New Year menu options will be offered in addition to the everyday menu of Sage Café and HoWan favorites.
