Barona Makes Valentine’s Day Even Sweeter with Two Romantic Menus

(SAN DIEGO, CA) January 14, 2007 – Barona Valley Ranch Resort & Casino’s Executive Chef Dean Thomas, with sweethearts in mind, has teamed up with Cupid to create two indulgent menus for this Valentine’s Day.  Guests can turn up the romance in the warm, intimate atmosphere of the award-winning Barona Oaks Steakhouse or they can spice up their evening at the casually-elegant Sage Cafe. 

The Barona Oaks Steakhouse is featuring a gourmet, three-course meal beginning with a Lobster Cioppino Soup with Avocado Cream or a Mixed Green Salad with Mustard and Walnut Oil Vinaigrette.  Alluring entrée selections include Salmon Wellington, with Wild Rice Pilaf, Asparagus and Meyer Lemon Vinaigrette or a Duo of Beef, grilled and braised with Roasted Carrots and Truffled Potato Puree.  Finally, a Decadent Chocolate Blackout Cake with Cherries and Kirsch provides the sweetest ending of all.

In addition to its regular menu of spectacular California cuisine Sage will heat things up on Valentine’s Day with its own elegant prix fixe menu.   Starter choices such as Caramelized Pear and Goat Cheese Tart, served with Mesclun Greens and Persimmon Vinaigrette, or Smoked Salmon with a Trio Onion Salad and Chive Crème Fraiche will set the stage for love.   Main course selections include a Braised Pork Shank with Parmesan Risotto-Roasted Cauliflower, Orange Gremolata and Marmalade, or a Seared Halibut with Parsnip Puree, Wilted Winter Local Greens and House Pancetta.  The dessert menu includes a Key Lime Tart-Coconut Gelato and an Upside-Down Pineapple Cake.

Guests can enjoy menu items at both restaurants a-la-cart or as a special prix fixe menu for $55 at Barona Oaks Steakhouse or for $30 at Sage Café.   The menus will be served on Thursday, February 14, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  Reservations are strongly recommended for the Barona Oaks Steakhouse and can be made by calling 888-7-BARONA.
